PARENT COMMUNICATION

If a problem arises, please follow these steps:

-        Have the Player meet with the Coach
-        If the issue is not resolved, set up a PlayerCoach and Parent meeting
-        If a resolution is not reached, set up a PlayerCoachParent and Athletic Director meeting.

These steps help to teach the students to step out of their comfort zone and advocate for themselves in a safe environment, gives the coaches an opportunity to clarify any misunderstandings, while still having the parents involved in the process. We ask parents to partner with us in this important opportunity.

Please do NOT approach Coaches or the Athletic Director after a practice or game with issues.
These are emotional times and do not lend themselves to positive outcomes.

24 Hour Rule- wait 24 hours before you speak to your player’s Coach(es)

Please support your student’s Coaches/Team by your words and actions at Home and in Public.  Talking negatively or second guessing the Coach creates a division between the Athlete, Coach and Parent.

ATHLETIC EXTRA-CURRICULAR ELIGIBILITY POLICY

The policy at MCA for athletic /extra-curricular eligibility is that each student involved in such
activities maintain an 85 grade-point average for each class.

In the event that an individual falls below the 85 grade-point average in any class at any checkpoint
date, he/she will be ineligible to participate and/or travel with the team for any athletic or
extracurricular event for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Following the mandatory weeks of ineligibility, the student will be declared eligible when his/her
grade point average returns to an 85 or above. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with
the Administration (office) when their grade-point average has reached 85 or higher
. The
Administration (office) will confirm that the student is eligible and will communicate the updated
eligibility status of the student with the Athletic Director and coaches. Once the student is eligible,
the student’s eligibility status will not be evaluated again until the next checkpoint date. *

At the beginning of the season for each sport, eligibility will be determined based on grades from the previous
Academic Checkpoint.

*Exception – If at any point the student’s grade falls below a 70 in any class, they will not be eligible
to practice or participate in any event until the grade is above a 70. Again, it is the student’s
responsibility to communicate with the Athletic Director and/or Administration (office) when their
grade is a 70 or higher.
